ABOUT THE GATHERING

Who We Are

We’re Andy and Brinly Foxall, and together with our two kids, we’re planting The Gathering in the Shreveport-Bossier area.

For nearly two decades, we’ve served in many different areas of ministry, and through every season God continued shaping a deeper burden in us, a desire to help build a healthy, Spirit-led, Scripture-rooted church centered on Jesus.

We believe church should be a place where people can encounter Jesus, grow deeply in their faith, build authentic community, and live sent into their everyday lives on mission.

We love this city deeply and believe God is already at work here. Our heart is to build a church that gathers faithfully, grows spiritually, and serves neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and families with the hope of Jesus.

We’re honored to help build The Gathering as pastors, parents, local business owners, and partners in ministry, and we’d love for you to be part of the story God is writing here.

Why The Gathering?

More Than a Weekend Service

We believe the Church is more than a weekend service — it is a people being formed by Jesus together.
The Gathering exists to form a healthy, gospel-centered church in the Shreveport-Bossier area — a church that gathers in community, grows in God’s Word and Presence, and goes sent into everyday life.

A Church Deeply Rooted

In a culture that often feels disconnected, hurried, and performance-driven, we long to build something different — something deeply rooted.
A church centered on Jesus, grounded in Scripture, dependent on the Holy Spirit, and shaped through authentic community.

We See a Church That Feels Like Family

Not just rows of people in a room. But a family gathered around a table.
A place where people can encounter Jesus, heal from hurt, grow as disciples, and learn to live as everyday missionaries in their neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and homes.

For Shreveport-Bossier

We love the Shreveport-Bossier area deeply.
We want to serve our city with the hope, presence, and love of Jesus — believing that a healthy church can bring real renewal to real people in real places.

Our Core Values

We exist to form a healthy, gospel-centered church in the Shreveport-Bossier area—equipped and sent into every sphere of life.

Gather in authentic community.
Grow in God’s Word and Presence.
Go sent into neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and homes.

A healthy church formed by Jesus and sent for the good of our city.

How We Live the Mission

We Gather

A healthy church gathers around Jesus and one another.

We gather to worship, pray, learn, and build authentic community — not as spectators, but as a family being formed by Jesus together.

Presence over performance. People over polish. Family over attendance.

We gather to encourage one another and encounter God together

Hebrews 10:24–25

We Grow

A healthy church grows through discipleship, Scripture, honesty, and Spirit-dependent transformation.

We want deep roots, not shallow speed — disciples, not just crowds — formation, not performance.

Scripture grounds us. Prayer is our first response. Community helps heal us. The Spirit transforms us.

We are becoming disciples who follow Jesus in everyday life.

Matthew 28:19–20 · 2 Timothy 3:16 · James 5:16 · Romans 8:11

We Go

A healthy church lives sent.

We gather weekly, but live sent daily — carrying the hope, presence, and love of Jesus into our neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, homes, and city.

We exist for those not yet here. Every member is a missionary. Every place is a mission field.

We bring the gospel into everyday conversations, serve our city with purpose and compassion, and choose to be contributors who cultivate fruit.

We are not building a cruise ship for Christians; we are joining Jesus on a rescue mission.

John 20:21 · 1 Peter 3:15 · Matthew 7:20

What We Believe

  • Jesus

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully human, who lived without sin, died for our sins, rose again, and is making all things new.

  • Scripture

We believe the Bible is God’s Word and our ultimate guide for truth, wisdom, formation, and faithful living.

  • Salvation

We believe salvation is a gift of grace through faith in Jesus — not something we earn, but something we receive and live from.

  • The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is active today, forming us into the likeness of Jesus and empowering the Church for witness and mission.

  • The Church

We believe the Church is a people, not just a service — a family gathered by Jesus, formed in community, and sent into the world.

  • Mission

We believe every follower of Jesus is sent to live as a witness in everyday life — in neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, homes, and the city.

  • Doctrine

Our beliefs are centered on Jesus, grounded in Scripture, and shaped by the historic Christian faith.

Doctrine matters because it helps us stay faithful. But doctrine is not the destination. Scripture is where we begin, where we return, and where we are formed.

We say: doctrine is a map, but Scripture is the terrain. We value the map, but we never want to become so busy arguing over the map that we stop walking the land.

So we seek to be a church shaped by the text itself, reading God’s Word in its cultural, historical, linguistic, and geographical context, and allowing Scripture to lead us to Jesus and form us as disciples.
